THE REASON AS TO WHY THE PVC COATED CHICKEN CAGES LAST LONGER

As Chicken  Cages grow popular everyday in Kenya, as a farmer one should be able to distinguish the different kind of Cages.

Chicken Cages are categorized into two, namely;

  (a) Cold dipped galvanized cage.

  (b)  Hot dipped galvanized cage.

Hot galvanized has a lifespan of 15-20 years while cold galvanized cage has a lifespan of 10-15 years.

However hot dipped galvanized cages are very expensive and therefore acting as a major drawback to a common farmer.

In order to offer and increase value for less the PVC coated cages were introduced which are commonly known as the cold dipped galvanized cagesbut now sprayed with an extra layer of PVC inorder to increase its shelf life.

ADVANTAGES OF PVC COATED CAGES

1. Last longer than cold dipped cages but less than the hot dipped cages.

2. Comparable pricing that is cheaper than hot dipped cages.

3. Smoother surface than hot galvanized cages hence reduction in injuries during handling.
